Water Use For Snowmaking
Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, UT
Project Title:
Cogeneration Water Re-Use

Description:
The final phase of Snowbird's snowmaking construction requires an additional 900 gallons per minute (gpm). For maximum utilization of the water in the resort, a 6" pipeline was tapped into the cogeneration cooling water. This line allows the snowmaking department to use the water a second time. Little Cottonwood canyon is part of Salt Lake City's municipal watershed. Storing the water on the mountain in the form of manmade snow is a better culinary utilization of the water in the spring and early summer.
