The resort uses a load-shedding management system that switches lifts over to diesel generators in order to minimize energy demand peaks in the county that would require additional power plant capacity.

The Golden Eagle Awards for Environmental Excellence were established in 1993 to recognize the environmental achievements of ski areas.
