FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NSAA Convention and Tradeshow to be Powered by Green Energy
Boulder Firm Donates Renewable Energy Credits to Offset Show Consumption.
PALM SPRINGS, CALIF. - April 6, 2007 - The 2007 NSAA National
Convention and Tradeshow is being powered by 100 percent renewable energy. Renewable
Choice Energy, Boulder, Colo., has donated green power, in the form of renewable
energy credits (RECs), to offset the energy consumed during this year's convention
being held at La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, Calif. The offset donation
for the four-day event totals 30,974 kilowatt hours (kWh), or enough to avert 43,116
pounds, or nearly 12 tons, of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This is the equivalent
of avoiding approximately 47,070 miles driven in a car, or planting six acres of
mature trees.
Scheduled for May 6 - 9, the annual convention features a host of educational
sessions focusing on the growth of the sport, risk management and insurance issues,
resort marketing technology, customer relations, environmental issues and more.
This year, Steve Farber, president of Extreme Leadership, Inc., is slated as the
opening keynote speaker. In his Radical Leap presentation, Farber will outline the
keys to becoming "extreme leaders." Also slated as a featured speaker, Dr. Lowell
Catlett, a tenured professor at New Mexico State University, is an exciting
futurist who will open attendees minds and expand their thinking about tomorrow.
Also, visionary entrepreneur Gary Erickson, founder and president of Clif Bar & Co.,
will share his corporate philosophy and principles of social responsibility as the
third featured speaker. This year the CEO Forum will feature Dr. Frank Schultz, a
lecturer at the UC Cal-Berkeley Haas School of Business who will provide his insight
on the value of strategic leadership and share his executive expertise as it relates
to the ski industry's management format. Also, research firm RRC Associates will
present this season's national visitation data.
In addition, the annual industry awards will be presented during the convention
including the Heads Up National Ski Area Safety Awards, the Golden Eagle awards for Environmental Excellence
(administered by Clif Bar & Co.), the Marketing and Guest Service awards and the
NSAA Lifetime Achievement and Sherman Adams award. As always the tradeshow features a
wide display of leading innovations in ski industry products and services.
More information on the convention is posted at www.nsaa.org.
