LAKEWOOD, Colo. - May 8, 2007 — Today the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) honored eight member resorts with its annual Heads Up National Ski Area Safety Awards at its National Convention and Tradeshow held at the La Quinta Resort & Club, Palm Springs, Calif. Each season the awards recognize those resorts that have done an outstanding job of educating employees and guests about skiing and snowboarding responsibly. The 2007 winners are:

Best Overall Safety Program - Vail Mountain, Colo.

Best Safety Week Program - Northstar-at-Tahoe, Calif.

Best Helmet Safety Campaign - The Summit at Snoqualmie, Wash. - “Helmet Heroes”

Best Use of the Web in a Safety Campaign - Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort, Ore.

Best Pre-Teen and Teen Safety Outreach - Aspen/Snowmass, Colo.

Most Creative Use of Online-Video - Bridger Bowl, Mont. - “Bridger Bob”

“Fun was the common thread that ran through the best safety programs this season. From Bridger Bowl Bob to Snoqualmie’s Helmet Heroes and Beaver Creek’s safety characters Harry and Milli, it was more evident than ever that ski area volunteers and employees heartily enjoy the challenge and opportunity to show that safety and fun really do mix,” said NSAA Education Director Tim White.

Resorts receiving Honorable Mentions include Bear Valley, Calif. and Snowshoe Mountain, W.Va. Each of the winning programs will be highlighted in the August issue of the NSAA Journal.
