Former Wildcat Mountain President Receives Sherman Adams Award
Stan Judge to be Presented Annual Award at NSAA National Convention.

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – April 9, 2007 – The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) today announced that Stan Judge, former president and general manager of New Hampshire’s Wildcat Mountain, has been presented with this year’s Sherman Adams Award. The award, named after the former governor of New Hampshire and founder of Loon Mountain, is presented annually to an individual from an Eastern ski area who has significantly influenced the ski industry. The award will be officially presented May 7 at NSAA’s National Convention and Tradeshow at La Quinta Spa & Club, Palm Springs, Calif.

Stan grew up in Cambridge, Mass., and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Northeastern University in 1951. He began working at Wildcat Mountain in 1958, retiring in 1996 after 38 years. Among Stan’s notable activities affecting the ski industry on the national level has been his involvement with the development of the ASA Tramway Safety Code, continuing as it evolved into the ANSI B77 Standard Committee.

In addition to his work on ski industry standards, Stan has been an active member of the New Hampshire Passenger Tramway Board since 1970, serving as chair for several years. Throughout his career, Stan has received numerous awards and gratitudes including recognition by the ESAA of his service as president from 1978 to 1981; recognition by NSAA in 1988 of his years of dedicated service as chair of the ANSI B77 Committee; and recognition by the U.S. Forest Service upon his retirement in 1996 for “38 years of working together.” In 1997 Stan received the H.H. Bill Whitney Award “in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sport of Alpine skiing in the State of New Hampshire.” Stan was married in 1961 to Kathleen Revis, whom he met while she was working as National Geographic magazine’s first female staff photographer. He has two daughters and one son.
