New Hampshire’s Wildcat Mountain, has been presented with this year’s Sherman
Adams Award. The award, named after the former governor of New Hampshire and
founder of Loon Mountain, is presented annually to an individual from an
Eastern ski area who has significantly influenced the ski industry. The award
will be officially presented May 7 at NSAA’s National Convention and

Stan grew up in Cambridge, Mass., and earned a mechanical engineering degree from

In addition to his work on ski industry standards, Stan has been an active member

chair of the ANSI B77 Committee; and recognition by the U.S. Forest Service upon
his retirement in 1996 for “38 years of working together.” In 1997 Stan received
the H.H. Bill Whitney Award “in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the
sport of Alpine skiing in the State of New Hampshire.” Stan was married in 1961
to Kathleen Revis, whom he met while she was working as National Geographic
magazine’s first female staff photographer. He has two daughters and one son.
