FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Green Power Program Continues to Snowball
More Than 60 Ski Areas Nationwide Offsetting Energy Use.
LAKEWOOD, Colo.– May 13, 2008 – Powdr Corporation, Park City, Utah, recently announced
that all of its seven ski and tubing areas, including Boreal Mountain and Soda Springs Ski Area, Calif.,
Gorgoza Tubing Park, and Park City Mountain Resort in Utah, Killington Resort, Vt., Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard
Resort, Nev. and Mt. Bachelor, Ore. are offsetting 100 percent of their energy use through the purchase of
renewable energy credits making them the latest of a long list of ski areas across the country that are
investing in renewable energy to green their operations and do their part in the fight against global warming.
To date, 63 resorts in 17 states are buying renewable energy to offset all, or part of their operational energy
use. These resorts serve as a model for other industries and encourage resorts guests to become involved in the
fight against global warming.

Of these 63 resorts, 34 are offsetting 100 percent of their energy use through
the purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs). All tolled, these 34 resorts are
purchasing 343,459,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of green energy and their purchases result
in the avoidance of 497,270,000 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2). This is the equivalent
of planting nearly 19 million trees or avoiding more than 196,000 round-trip flights
between New York and San Francisco.
In addition, NSAA is offsetting 100 percent of its energy use for its 2008 National Convention
and Tradeshow to be held in May at the Hilton San Francisco, Calif.
NSAA launched its Green Power Program in 2006 as part of the
industry’s Keep Winter Cool program (www.keepwintercool.org) to combat global warming.
Partners in Keep Winter Cool include the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and
Clif Bar & Co. For more information visit The Green Room in the Environment section of nsaa.org.
THE NATIONAL SKI AREAS ASSOCIATION, LOCATED IN LAKEWOOD, COLO., IS A TRADE ASSOCIATION FORMED IN 1962 FOR SKI AREA OWNERS AND OPERATORS NATIONWIDE.
