Vail Ski Resort COO Elected to NSAA Chair
MARCO ISLAND, Fla. - May 23, 2006 - The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) announced today
that Bill Jensen, COO of Vail Ski Resort and co-president of Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division, has been elected chair
of the association’s board of directors. The election was held during NSAA’s annual
National Convention and Tradeshow held at the Marriott Marco Island Resort Golf
Club & Spa. He replaces David Crowley, general manager and COO of Wachusett
Mountain Ski Area, Princeton, Mass.
As co-president of Vail Resorts Mountain Division, Jensen is responsible for management oversight of Vail, Beaver Creek and Heavenly Ski Resorts. In addition, he is the COO of Vail Ski Resort, responsible for the operations and business activity. A 32-year ski industry veteran, his career includes previous positions as senior vice president and COO of Breckenridge Ski Resort, Colo.; president of the Fibreboard Resort Group, operator of three California ski resorts; vice president of marketing for Sunday River Ski Resort, and vice president of Kassbohrer All Terrain Vehicles, a manufacturer of snowgrooming vehicles. Jensen also currently serves on the executive boards of Colorado Ski Country USA, and the Vail Valley Foundation.
Based on preliminary estimates, national skier visits for the 2005/06 season set an all-time record of 58.8 million visits, up 3.3 percent from last season, and up 2 percent from the previous record set in 2002/03. Continuing a very strong trend, five of the six best seasons on record have all occurred in the past six seasons.
