Take the Carrig Challenge!
How it all got started
In 2018, NSAA board of directors discussed how the industry could get more ski industry staff to attend valuable education events. That vision became reality in 2019 when NSAA founded the Mountain Foundation 501(c)3. A very generous donation from Blaise and Leslie Carrig gave the foundation a strong start.
Where we are today
Since its inception, NSAA has receive over $200,000 in donations and awarded $50,000 to applicants to attend education events, free of charge.
$200,000 is a fantastic start and we are thrilled with the generosity of our snowsports industry, especially with very little active fundraising on our part. However, as we head into our fifth season we are seeing a slowdown in donations and are now putting a long term plan into action to make the Mountain Foundation sustainable for decades to come.
Our goal over the next five years is to raise and award up to $50,000 in grants annually. We know this is ambitious and expect it will take a couple of years to achieve this level of stability. For the 2022-23 our goal is to raise $25,000 and award $40,000 in grants.
To do this, we need your support. Your donation is an investment in the future of the ski industry and an opportunity to “pay it forward” to the next generation of leaders. To double your donation, we ask you to participate in our limited time, matching grant campaign. Whether you are able to donate $5 or $5,000, every penny is critical to reaching our total funding goals by December 31, 2022.
Tell me about the Carrig Challenge!
Blaise and Leslie Carrig invite the ski industry to an end-of-year matching gift challenge. The Carrigs have donated $5,000; when that amount is matched, it will unlock another $5,000 gift. When that is matched, a final $5,000 gift will be unlocked. That is up to $15,000 in matching gifts from the Carrigs! This gift will go straight to the Mountain Foundation, but first you have to accept the challenge and help us raise the same amount to fully realize the matching gift.
"I can’t think of a ski area GM in this country who wouldn’t want to make a donation to the Mountain Foundation, and I am happy to match them.” Challenge set!
